What is License on Ice?

Biting cold, absolute silence — and the sound of a naturally aspirated V12.

License on Ice is not a winter holiday. It is the chance to drive an Aston Martin on studded tyres across five kilometres of prepared ice tracks — guided by experienced racing instructors and in a small group of no more than ten drivers.

The Art of Drifting

Adrenaline in its most refined form.

Ahead of you lie five kilometres of perfectly prepared ice tracks, endless circles and demanding handling courses. Your machine: a thoroughbred Aston Martin whose studded tyres bite greedily into the frozen surface.

Under the precise guidance of professional racing instructors you learn to look where you want to go and to combine that with the steering work that sets your drift angle. You will hold the car sideways, feel the sound of the high-revving naturally aspirated engines through your whole body and keep the car under control even at the limit.

The fleet

Four Aston Martins. One worldwide exclusive.

You are not steering just any cars across the ice, but the icons of the British luxury marque. And — only here on this planet — a genuine Aston Martin GT4 race car on an ice circuit.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know.

What happens if there is not enough snow or ice?

At 1,641 m above sea level the Katschberg is one of the most snow-sure locations in the Eastern Alps, and the track crew prepares the ice professionally. Should an event have to be postponed because of extreme weather, we let you know in good time and offer a free transfer to another edition or a full refund.

What clothing and equipment should I bring?

Warm clothing in several layers (thermal base layer, fleece, water-repellent jacket), sturdy shoes with a good sole, gloves, a hat and sunglasses. You do not need a helmet.

Are the Aston Martins insured?

Yes, all cars are fully insured. An excess per claim is communicated clearly in advance. You receive detailed information on liability with your booking confirmation.

Which Aston Martin models will I actually drive?

The fleet includes the New Vantage, the legendary DB9 and the Vantage V12S — all on studded tyres. As a worldwide first, a genuine Aston Martin GT4 race car is ready for the ice circuit. Thanks to double occupancy with constant car rotation, you get into every model over the two driving days.

How much personal track time do I get?

The number of entries is strictly limited to 10 drivers per edition. That guarantees plenty of track time, personal attention and a steep learning curve — unlike mass events where 30 or more participants share a handful of sessions.

Can I bring a companion?

Yes. Package 3 includes the hotel package for a companion — with accommodation, breakfast, dinners and full wellness access. Your companion can enjoy the resort during the day or add optional ski days on the Katschberg.

Is food provided at the track?

Yes. On both driving days a hot lunch with drinks is included in the log cabin right at the track. In the evening, a four-course welcome dinner and a gourmet menu await you at the resort.

Can I take part for just one day?

Taking part for a single day is possible on request. Since the programme is built as a three-day experience and the learning curve is planned across both driving days, we recommend booking the whole thing. For individual arrangements, just talk to us directly.

Who is the organiser?

License on Ice is an event by LICENSE TO RACE, an established provider of high-quality driving experiences in the Aston Martin and GT world. TWENTYSEVEN Trackdays offers you the event in friendly cooperation, handles the entire booking process and looks after you personally before and after the event.

When should I book?

With only 10 places available per edition and a loyal returning clientele, we recommend booking early — ideally in the summer or autumn before the season. Popular editions are often sold out months in advance.
